Ali Motazedian

Ali Motazedian is a postdoctoral researcher at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC). He received his Bachelor's degree in Molecular Bioengineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. Under Prof. Akaike's supervision, he studied the impact of artificial extra-cellular matrices on mouse pluripotent stem cells maintenance and differentiation. Later, he joined Dr. Draper’s laboratory at the Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. During this time, he focused on the cell fate determination of breast cancer cells upon exposure to various chemotherapy drugs. During his PhD studies at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, he focused on lymphocyte differentiation from human PSCs. Since joining Professor Mark Dawson’s lab in late 2020, his major research focus has been understanding the mechanisms of haematopoietic stem cell expansion and differentiation using the state-of-art technologies.
